This Privacy Policy explains how Copyit! (“the extension”) handles information. Your privacy is a top priority, and the extension is designed to function without collecting or transmitting your personal data.

1. Data We Do Not Collect

Copyit! is designed with your privacy in mind. We do not collect, store, or transmit any of your personal information, browsing history, or the content of the web pages you visit. All processing occurs locally on your computer.

2. Information the Extension Accesses and Processes

To perform its function, the extension needs to access certain information locally on your machine.

  • Web Page Content: The extension’s primary purpose is to find patterns like emails, phone numbers, URLs, and user-defined custom patterns on the pages you visit. To achieve this, it reads and processes the text content of the web page you are actively viewing. This processing happens entirely on your local computer and the content is never saved or sent to any remote server.
  • User-Provided Settings: The extension stores the settings you configure on its options page. This data includes:
    • Your domain list (whitelist or blacklist).
    • Your custom-created text patterns.
    • Style and behavior preferences, such as colors, icon sizes, and which buttons to display.

3. How Your Information is Stored

All your configuration data and settings are saved using Chrome’s built-in storage API (`chrome.storage.sync`). This means your settings are stored securely within your browser’s local profile. If you are signed into a Google account in Chrome, these settings may be synced across your devices for your convenience. The extension developer has no access to this stored data.

4. Third-Party Services

The core functionality of the extension does not use any third-party services or make any external network requests while running on web pages.

The only exception is the extension’s settings page (`options.html`), which uses Google Fonts to display icons within the user interface. When you open the options page, your browser will make a standard request to Google’s servers to load these font files. This is the only instance where a request is made to an external service.
